A Horse Named Moonshine
Before Moonshine Stable was even created, before all the fencing, the barn, the horses, 2391 Nolan's road sat empty, with only a cabin and a garage.
In 2008 Stephane & Holly purchased the land, a house was built and a little paint foal was fallen in love with.
Moonshine was a gift for the farm, he was the beginning of it all.
He was dropped off early and had to reside at Zephyr Farm (where Holly grew up) until everything was ready for him at his new home. He was weaned at 4 months by his previous owner, and on the wild side to boot, but once handled he would follow us everywhere, we were his only companions (aside from a goat) for a time until he got equine ones of his own.
He was named Moondancer from the little girl who's parents owned him. He was born on a full moon in April and when he got up he looked like he was dancing. I changed it to Moonshine, because his silly personality was as bright as a full moon night.
He was a special little horse, and although we only had him toe and a half years before he died tragically, his memory and legacy lives on with the farm.
Moonshine was the very first horse I started under saddle, he had the best personality.
I will never forget his antics, rolling in the ditch, in March, with ice chunks still in the water and once finished, realizing how freaking cold he was and shivering like mad, I had to grab all the towels, dry him off and find a blanket for him to wear. He continued to love water and would often be found in the pond!
I will never forget Moonshine, he was the best horse I could have asked for. He was everything I had wanted him to be and more, and so I decided to name this farm after him in 2010.
You may have departed us, but you will never be forgotten or missed. Goodbye good lad.
