What is Horsemanship & why is it so important?
Horsemanship is defined as the "art or practice of riding on horseback" but it is so much more than that. Horsemanship is not just riding, in fact I firmly believe riding is a privilege, NOT a right. We must create a relationship with our horses or any horse we ride, based on a foundation of understanding, respect and trust. Without this foundation together, how can we connect and bond with our horse?
Horses are incredibly sensitive and perceptive. They pick up on subtle hints, body language and our emotions and react accordingly. I have made it my mission to learn, learn, learn and create a method to training. I treat each horse as an individual, although they may have the same instincts and motivation or drive, they are unique in the way they learn and the things they want or can do. I cater my approach and do my very best to understand them and speak their language through horsemanship. I want to teach others this, and help owners and riders become true partners with their horses.
